SEO/SEM professionals use a variety of software metrics to determine the effectiveness of your site in Google’s search engine results page or SERPs.

Frankly, even though I do SEO and SEM analysis, I’m always wary of the methods employed by SEO pros.

Most use metrics software – everything from heatmaps that show where visitors go on your site to Google Analytics which provides some pretty good info.

There is no set number of pages to be tested. each page of a new site should be tested. Remember, search engines don’t index web sites, they index web pages. It may take several passes for a site to be fully indexed, and Google isn’t going to be rushed.
